I have skied these fatties for the past two seasons at Tahoe. I have tried pretty much all of the other specialty skis out there. I started years ago with Wolf’s and progressed along with the evolution. I loved the Spatula and still have one unmounted pair in the shop. BUT, the Elan Quad 1 is the ski I reach for on a powder day. Reason: you can ski this ski anywhere on the mountain. The rockered skis are really nice in powder, but later in the day the run-ins and run-outs will kill you and take all the fun out of the shots that are left. And if you need to break a little trail to get to the stash, the rocker is not really fun. I know you will call me a traditionalist, but I will ski more pow in a day with my Elan’s than I can on any rockered ski. And, I will carve the frontside groomers on the way back.
I got these skis and although they are park specific they wer very lively in the bumps and floated through powder lik no ones business. They were also very maneuverable through the trees. All around a magnificent ski
