I have worn a helmet for about a dozen years. When I fall at speed, I am very glad to have it on. I am a volunteer firefighter, and I have seen how effective helmets can be for motorcycle riders.
All of that said, it is WRONG for government to legislate helmet use. You cannot outlaw stupidity. This is what happens with national health care. The rationalization is that medical costs will be higher. That's garbage. Behavior is a much bigger factor, and it is not government's job to control behavior.
I had been skiing on the equivalent boot from almost a dozen years ago. The liner had packed down, and it was feeling a bit stiff. I bought these a few months ago. After six days of skiing, I can say, without doubt, these are the best ski boots I have ever owned. I thought my Shoguns had a bit of chatter at very high speeds. With these boots on, the chatter is gone. While the flex number is the same as my old Langes, there has been "grade creep". They're just a bit softer, which is actually better at shock absorption. The main thing is that they have plenty of forward lean, and a linear flex.
It was a marvelous day. I live about halfway between Boulder and Eldora, so it was a little easier commute for me.
I have never seen Eldora's lot that full.
I'm glad you made it up Boulder Canyon. I talked to many who were behind cars that struggled or even went back to Boulder and took RTD.
And yes, my legs were shot by 1:30 as well. A great way to burn 'em up.
