Wildcat Auctions Off Gondolas

Pinkham Notch, N.H., Mar. 3--This weekend, skiers atWildcat Mountain can take home more than memories, they can go home withone of 22 gondolas being auctioned off.

The 1958 gondola, the first detachable in the U.S., was taken out ofservice last October after an impressive run. "It's amazing," said BrianHendricks, marketing director at Wildcat. "All who are participating havesome sort of special memory of the gondola."

Two of the gondolas are being auctioned off on Wildcat's Website and thecurrent bids are $4,000 and $3,500. The rest will be auctioned on Saturday,March 4. The proceeds will be used to establish a year-round naturalistprogram at Wildcat in conjunction with the Forest Service.
