It's that time of year again. The guides and pilots from CMH Heli-Skiing, the team from K2 Skis and the crew from Warren Miller Entertainment, along with Andy Mahre and Tyler Ceccanti have been hard at 'work' for the last 6 days at the Monashee Lodge filming the CMH Heli-Skiing segment for this fall's ski movie. Looks like that in addition to some exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities, the skiing absolutely ROCKS and the snow is still piling up out there.
Here's a sneak-peak of what we're in for!
So I think it’s maybe time that I maybe explain something from an earlier post, maybe. I put up a few pics as “previews” for what might be ahead on my blog. I got a few questions about the one where I am hanging above a pool. It’s a fish eye lens, shot from the front seat of a helicopter. (See more behind-the-scenes photos from the trip here.)
Ugh, this is so frustrating. Usually snow is awesomely cool! But right now I want to do my tricks and it’s dumping in Breck. Maybe I just go down to Denver and see the sites to get my mind off of Dew Tour.
Here's a picture from the weekend. I was filming my segment for Warren Miller Entertainment and trying to get some training in, but as you can see, the weather wasn’t so hot for shooting or jumping. Too flat.
Four hours after getting back from a shoot in PA it was back to the airport to leave for a shoot in Portillo, Chile. The ski resort of Portillo is located about 3 hours drive northwest of Santiago, right near the Argentinean border. This shoot marked the start of filming for the 2011 Warren Miller film and we had a truly all star cast of skiers to work with for the segment. (Daron Ralves, Julia Mancuso, Tommy Moe, Chris Davenport, Julien Carr, Jess McMillan and Colby West to name a few.)
Saturday was fun - and soooo cool to see everyone again; Sigi, Chris, Sascha, Lori, Hugo, Babtiste, and the reps from the US, Marc & Jesse and a lot of others in the Kastle Familia!
It's been a short, but sweet visit here in Austria, and Hugo and I are now getting ready for a few hours of sleep before getting up at 4:30 am to head to the airport and fly back home. Thanks to awesome Simon who's picking us up early! You rock!
After a busy first week in the bay area, Lane Johnson (Crew 1 MC) and Matt Feicht (Crew 1 Projectionist) decided to spend their day off on the coast. They traveled south to the classic beach town of Santa Cruz, back north via scenic Hwy 1, to the Palace of Fine Arts, then north again, through wine country, to Santa Rosa and Sacramento. Here are a few photos from their journey.
