BIOGRAPHY
Growing up near Aspen, Jake Zamansky learned to ski fast before he was a teenager. He’s been a Ski Racing Junior of the Year and won FIS-level races in Europe and NorAm titles. A multi-event racer, he scored his first World Cup points during the '09 season and earned a giant slalom start at the World Championships.

UPDATE
A preseason busted collarbone couldn't slow Zamansky from making a BIG mark on the '09 season with the first World Cup points of his career. He was 24th just before Christmas at what Head Coach Sasha Rearick calls the "Holy Grail" of giant slalom races in Alta Badia, Italy. He then went on to finish 27th in Adelboden, Switzerland, earn a spot on the World Championships Team, then spark a career best 15th in Sestriere, Italy. "It's a huge accomplishment for Jake," Rearick said after Alta Badia. "He's been looking for this. He's had a lot of World Cup starts and for him to accomplish that goal shows tremendous persistence and dedication to the sport." The results more than qualified Zamansky for the U.S. B Team after missing the criteria and racing on his own dime to get there.

FIRST TRACKS
Zamansky skied at 2 at Aspen’s Buttermilk Mountain with his parents but held off on racing until 8. He moved through the ranks, skied in two Junior Worlds Championships (best results: 6th in combined, 13th in SL in ’01) and was Ski Racing Junior Racer of the Year for 2001.

FIRST WORLD CUP
Oct. 27, 2002 in Soelden, AUT (did not qualify for 2nd run in GS)

CHALLENGES
2008 – Broken right collarbone while riding motocross severely impacted his summer prep period for the '09 season. 2007 - Knee injury early while World Cup racing in Europe sidelined him for the rest of the season. 2002 – Post-season surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left shoulder.
