Favorite quote you’ve read or heard recently: Words to live by… “To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and wealthy, not rich; to think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages with an open heart; to bear all cheerfully and do all bravely.”  - Wm. Henry Channing

Interview

What is your fondest childhood memory? I grew up in Switzerland as a kid, and every Christmas we would go to Austria to ski. At the age of two, I would ski on these little plastic skis we got at the supermarket, when I got tired my Dad would put me on his shoulders and rip the piste in his 70's stretch pants. I loved it and yelled for him to "ski faster Daddy!". I think it’s a travesty that in most resorts in the US today, parents aren't allowed to ski with their kids in backpacks.

What was the most memorable moment of your life ... on snow? 1999: My first year heli guiding in Cordova, bluebird epic powder day, AK style, blower, throwing down 4 first descents with my husband and getting to name one of them after my beautiful mother that passed away when I was 15 years old.

What would surprise your fans most about you? I like to knit and throw bombs and I have a “lead foot”.

Who’s your favorite musical artist that you’ve just heard of in the last 6 months? Culver City Dub Collective, Their lead guitarist, Franchot Tone is super talented…(oh and he’s my brother.) I’m a big fan! P.S. Their new album on iTunes, “8-ep”, is killer!

When you're having a bad day, what do you do to cheer up? Get on my mountain bike and work it out on some epic single track.

Who has been influencing your skiing style recently? I’d have to say Allison Gannett in her TGR heydays. She always looked so incredibly relaxed and fluid. I have really loud hands when I ski - they are always flailing about. Allison always looked like she was holding butterflies in her hands as she raged down big AK lines. That’s the mental picture I use when I ski.

What are you passionate about after the snow melts? Cooking, gardening, mountain biking, surfing, SUP, riding my moto, long romantic walks on the beach… not necessarily in that order.

What’s the best après-ski food? Mama’s Balls at Mamasake in the Village at Squaw!
