My Thursday began with me looking at a Colorado sky so blue it hurts your eyes to look at it. Driving to DIA , I left the majestic white Rockies covered in the fresh powder from the storm that had just swept through. I stopped off in Philadelphia for a Philly Cheese steak and watched the sunset. I then flew over the Statue of Liberty and a Manhattan illuminated with the night lights as if on a postcard. Having successfully negotiated another lengthy session at the pleasure of the Canadian Customs & Immigration I finished the night watching the World Series in French.
Ah Canada!. The citizens of Ottawa were the latest to be treated with a dose of Wintervention and they responded in style. The guys and gal of Crew 1 brought the snow with them as the first major snowfall of the season started on Saturday evening. At the beautiful National Arts Center, in the heart of Ottawa overlooking the Rivière des Outaouais, we were joined by our good friends from Ski Banff/Lake Louise, Big White/Silver Star, Greek Peek, and Smuggler’s Notch. We also had a huge presence from the folks at Tommy & Lefebvre which helped everyone get into the mood. Lane got the show going and our enthusiastic crowd responded – the theatre goers attending Romeo and Juliet were curious onlookers to the whole thing. Lots of great prizes were given away and everyone had a few drinks and a great time. And when we all spilled out at the end there were a couple of inches of snow on the ground as a taste of the Ontario Winter to come. Wintervention – it’s just what the doctor ordered!
