Our Warren Miller season is off to a start - not a particularly fast start - but we are getting there, this is normal, soon it will be full steam ahead and I won't recall the date, day or geographic location of my person. Some nice trips planned for the next couple of months.

In Aspen we shot a 3 part piece with skier Colby West, we are sort of recreating the last five years of his life all shot in his POV - so like Being John Malckovich. Here is a photo of Colby at the Powder Video Awards -...

Four hours after getting back from a shoot in PA it was back to the airport to leave for a shoot in Portillo, Chile. The ski resort of Portillo is located about 3 hours drive northwest of Santiago, right near the Argentinean border. This shoot marked the start of filming for the 2011 Warren Miller film and we had a truly all star cast of skiers to work with for the segment. (Daron Ralves, Julia Mancuso, Tommy Moe, Chris Davenport, Julien Carr, Jess McMillan and Colby West to name a few.)

    The...

Road Crew 6 has officially “Winterventioned” Canada. For the past five weeks Emcee Chris Tatsuno, Production Manager A.J. Pacheco, Sponsor Liaison A.J. Hobbs, and Road Crew 6 Manager Justin Dersham have been spreading the winter stoke by presenting Warren Miller Entertainments’ Wintervention ski and snowboard film to the great people of Canada. It has been an epic journey.

Starting with the cozy feel of Calgary a day trip up to Banff National Park gave a hint that winter is creeping in. The...

On Monday, October, 19th Road Crew 2 loaded into the minivan at 5:00 a.m. for the drive to Denver International Airport from Boulder, en route to Salt Lake City, Utah. Upon arrival in "The Beehive Sate", we spent the rest of the morning picking up the Ryder truck and loading equipment that was waiting at air cargo. We nestled into our rooms at the Embassy Suites then punished ourselves by hitting up a Bikram Yoga session. By the time the 90 minute class wrapped up, we were ready to...

I went to Warren Miller Entertainment world wide HQ located in the center of all grooviness...or as it is more commonly known...Boulder, Colorado...to check out the footage that was shoot in at CMH Gothics. Josh Haskins, ace producer, and I sat down in the editing bay and took a look.

Wow. The footage is just beautiful. Everything that was shot on the ground is on film and has such a great look and feel. Chris Patterson, the DP and principle camera, is such a pro at capturing the action.

I got the opportunity to join the Warren Miller crew for a shoot with gold medalist, Lindsey Vonn, during her home coming to Vail. Our time was quite limited with Lindsey due to her very busy schedule, but we lucked out with about 10 inches of fresh snow which should really make her segment shine. We had quite the large crew during the shoot; not usually the most efficient way to get shots, but despite the 4 on the Warren Miller crew, the Vail videographer, Vail Still photographer, Vail marketing...

Last year I was lucky enough to film a segment for Warren Miller’s “Dynasty” in the Lyngen Alps, the very north of Norway. So when Kästle told me I was to film with Warren Miller again this season, what’s more in my home town, I felt like the luckiest person on earth.

For once, snow and weather conditions totally cooperated, the film shoot from 7th to 17th March was a huge success with cold powder and one sunny day after another. My Kästle buddies Karine Falck-Pedersen and...

This will be my last post from the film shoot. I have a 6 year olds birthday party to make it home to before heading back out to the areas next week...some things are more important the skiing and making movies.

For this post we are (mostly) turning away from the action in the mountains to looking behind the scenes for a shot the crew did at night using the 212. I am not going to give detail as to why the crew was shooting at night...you will have to go see the movie.

I just got back from an amazing trip to Southern Utah thanks to the First Ascent crew. I have been down in the canyon lands a few times before to rock climb and hike around but never to ski. This is the first time in the last 30 years that Southern Utah has had enough snow to ski it’s rock forests and man is it good! Some people say it’s like skiing the spines in Haines but on Mars. It took us a long time of tiptoeing around the rim under the radar to find a place where we could enter the guarded...
