Travis Ganong: First Two Days in Alaska with Warren Miller Entertainment
Wow, we nailed it with the timing here in AK! For three days before we got here it was raining and foggy. Then Tom Day, Danny Day and I show up and BAM! The first two days of the trip are blue bird and amazing. My first time here to Points North Heli in Cordova, and my first time filming with Warren Miller, and I'm like, "Wow I guess it's always sunny in Alaska!" It looks like the luck is on our side with the weather. The trip has started out well with some amazing conditions and we are already pushing it pretty hard. I am lucky enough to be shredding with Mitch Toelderer, an amazing big mountain snowboarder from Innsbruck who charges as hard as anyone and is a super humble person to be with in the mountains. I am learning a lot from him and it's fun to pushi it a little! All the photos on this post were taken by Mitch. Thanks Mitch, and nice work yesterday sending the first run ever down "The Rattlesnake". That was burly! It looks like sun for another few days so I'll try to send an update soon!
Anytime Jess McMillan, Sierra Quitiquit and Julia Mancuso get together to shred, it's going to be epic. When they get together to shred in Iceland, some of the most beautiful arctic terrain in the world, it's mind blowing.
When Chris Patterson gets behind a camera, magical things happen. That's why he's the Director of Photography for Warren Miller Entertainment. Check out his Instagram photos while filming Seth Wescott and Rob Kingwill in Valdez, AK for Warren Miller's 64th ski movie, coming Fall 2013.
Rob Kingwill not only has a keen eye for a great line, he also has a great eye for photography. Check out his Instagram photos as we filmed him shredding Valdez, AK with Seth Wescott. Follow him on Instagram at @robkingwill
Warren Miller producer, Josh Haskins, joined athletes Julia Mancuso, Sierra Quitiquit and Jess McMillan to shoot a spellbinding segment in Iceland for our latest ski film. He documented this journey on Instagram by doing what he does best, taking pictures. You can follow Josh at @haskimoto.
Marcus Caston was featured in Warren Miller's Flow State when we sent him to Chugach Powder Guides in AK with Ted Ligety and Phil Meier on his first heli-skiing trip. He also works as head photographer at Shred Optics, which allows him to combine skiing and photography into one supernova passion.
